Questions, problems and feedback about StrataWeather. The answers to the most common questions are below. For anything else, write to chris@strataweather.com.
Contact us
Email chris@strataweather.com. It helps if you include:
- The place you were looking at: a city, or the coordinates.
- What you expected to see and what you saw instead, and roughly when.
- Whether you were using the website, the mobile app, the API or ChatGPT.

StrataWeather is not an emergency service. If you are in danger, call your local emergency number.
Coverage
Why is some information missing for my location? Hourly and daily forecasts are available worldwide. Current observations, the minute-by-minute rain forecast and weather alerts are available for the contiguous United States only.
The location is wrong. The website uses your device's location if your browser allows it. You can search for a city or postal code instead, and allow or block location for the site in your browser's settings.
The forecast was wrong. Forecasts are a blend of many weather models and they are sometimes wrong. If one was badly off, tell us the place and the time; reports like that are how we find faults. The Models page shows how each model has been performing.
Signing in
The sign-in email did not arrive. Check your spam folder. The link works once and expires after 15 minutes, so ask for a new one if it has been longer than that.
There is no password. You sign in with Google or with a link sent to your email address. There is nothing to reset.
Alerts and notifications
I am not getting notifications. Check that notifications are allowed for StrataWeather in your browser or phone settings, and that the alert is turned on for a saved place on your account page.
On iPhone. Notifications from the website only work once it is on your Home Screen. Tap Share, then Add to Home Screen, and open StrataWeather from there.
How many places can I save? A free account keeps one place and the rain-starting alert.
Your account and your data
You can remove saved places and alert rules on your account page. To delete your account and everything stored with it, or to ask for a copy of what we hold, write to chris@strataweather.com from the address you sign in with. The Privacy Policy describes what is stored.
The API
The API documentation lists the endpoints and says what access each one needs.
StrataWeather in ChatGPT
The ChatGPT app answers from the same forecasts as the website, with the same coverage. If an answer looks wrong, send us the question you asked and the place it was about.
Security
If you have found a security problem, please write to chris@strataweather.com before making it public, so that we can fix it first.
